Entering the blogosphere

Greetings and Salutations!

Welcome to my humble blog.  Being a very new blogger, I’m not sure I’ll have much to say, but I can tell you where I’m headed!

I am a 26 year old attorney, who is (impatiently) waiting for a job!  I have been unemployed for the last few months now, and the job opportunities seem scarce and discouraging.  However, I know that time will take its course, and sooner rather than later I’ll be in the position I’ve been waiting to be in for a while now!

In the meantime, I have made my health and fitness a priority in my life.  I have always been fit, even though there were times in which my techniques were unhealthy and dangerous.  When I was 16, I suffered from both Anorexia and Bulimia, eventually landing myself in the emergency room.  For two years, I struggled with my eating disorder, falling in and out of recovery and having a continuous battle with food.  By the time I left for college when I was 18, I was finally feeling comfortable with my body and wanted to enjoy food rather than have a hate-relationship with it.

When my boyfriend and I moved to East Contra Costa County in December from Sacramento (California, for all of you non-Californians out there), I immediately joined the local gym – the Delta Valley Athletic Club (DVAC).  My friend Tracy joined as well, and together we started working out on a consistent basis.  Before I left Sacramento, I had started taking Bikram (Hot) Yoga and was disappointed that the closest Bikram yoga studio to me now was over 45 minutes away.   Instead, I started taking group classes at DVAC, including Zumba (which I LOVE), circuit weight training classes, and pilates.  On other days, I’ll do my own 45-60 minute cardio workout, with usually 30 minutes of weight training incorporated into my gym visit.  The gym not only makes me feel better about how I perceive by body, but also how I perceive myself!  I’m happier the days that I work out (which are usually 5-6 days a week), and it’s a great way to meet new people in the community!

Now, the real reason I began this blog was to keep track of my newest endeavor which will begin on February 6.  About a month and a half ago, my friend began a 24-day challenge through AdvoCare, a company that I am learning more and more about each day.  The 24-day challenge begins with a 10-day cleanse phase, and concludes with a 13-day max phase, where people not only lose weight but feel energetic and healthy!  My boyfriend and I will be doing this challenge together, as I think it will help us both stay motivated if we work with one another and motivate one another.  So everyday, I hope to keep a track of what I’m eating, how I’m feeling, and what I’m doing to keep active!

But first, it’s time to get rid of this stomach virus!  Hopefully I’ll feel better in a day or two so I can enjoy a night out with my boyfriend before we start the challenge!  Have a great day, all!
